About The Position

This position is assigned to operate equipment within established guidelines for efficiency, safety, product quality, food safety and customer service. The equipment will include batching, pelleting and packing equipment and other equipment unique to a plant. The operator must be knowledgeable in batching, pelleting and packing procedures and properly document the process as required by Quality and Food Safety procedures. This is a 3rd shift position working 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, 10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. The base wage rate for this position is $22.00/hr with a 3rd shift differential of $3.00/hr.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills
Routinely lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the shift
Perform the functions of the job while exposed to various weather and environmental conditions.
Perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
Climb catwalks, stairs and ladders to check feed & ingredient bins.
Perform basic math operations: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
Comprehend, read, write and speak the English language.
Physically active and mobile throughout the shift.
Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet working conditions.
Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a manufacturing environment.
Self motivated with a solid work ethic.
Good attitude and works well in a team atmosphere.
Handles other duties as required by management.
Maintain excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

Operate equipment within established guidelines for efficiency, safety, product quality, food safety and customer service.

Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
Ensure product quality expectations are met.
Follow all facility Good Manufacturing Practices as required.
Ensure area is kept clean and completion of all listed housekeeping duties per the master sanitation schedule.
Work with other Operations colleagues to effectively communicate production issues.
Provide mentoring and training to new colleagues once qualified.
Work overtime as specified by management.
Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.
Operate multiple processes within the facility with minimal supervision, rotating between areas as needed, while collaborating with management and team members to ensure quality, food safety, and customer service standards are met.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and production processes are optimized to maximize output.
Provide back up to other positions in the plant to cover for absences, vacations or heavy workload.
Attend all safety meetings and actively participate in discussion and help identify ways to improve safety.
Attend and actively participate in other staff meetings regarding Quality and Food Safety, Lean manufacturing, customer service, annual training or other topics.
Ensure housekeeping of your work area and other assigned portions of the plant is completed as specified in AQS-FD policies and QFS SOPs.
Notify the Plant Manager, Superintendent or Supervisor of any product or process not meeting company standards to reduce the chance of product claims, required re-work or other things that reduce efficiency.
