About The Position

Youngstown Pipe and Steel is seeking a candidate who has the ability to multitask in various manufacturing situations and work assignments. The Utility Operator completes daily activities involving machinery, safety, housekeeping, inventory, maintenance and any other duties as assigned by supervisors. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows safety and quality standards and has a good work ethic.

Requirements

• Ability to follow instructions and direction precisely, without distraction, until completed.
• Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making.
• Logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Good work ethic and attendance
• Ability to follow safety regulations
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to work with others to accomplish daily requirements of the position
• Ability to multi-task under pressure
• Valid driver's license or state issued ID and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• All activity involving running machinery including the Wheelabrator, as assigned.
• Safety, housekeeping and maintenance duties
• Organizing inventory controls
• Project work, as related to the responsibilities of the position.
• Use of various hand tools
• Remove and replace worn or broken machine parts
• Filling in for material handlers and grinders, as needed
• Work closely with supervisors of various departments to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
• Involvement in various duties, activites of the plant and projects
