About The Position

The Utility Operator B performs a variety of general and skilled labor functions in support of packaging, processing, warehousing, and plant aesthetics. The role includes material handling, equipment operation, cleaning, and maintaining orderly work areas in an industrial environment. Operators perform pre-operational equipment checks, monitor equipment performance and gauges, and follow safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Meet assessment requirements.
• Pass a basic computer skills assessment (Powders only).
• Be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), PWIs (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.
• Communicate effectively with team leaders, shipping/receiving clerks, schedulers, supervisors, customers, drivers, and others.
• Satisfy the spirit of WE CARE.
• Be able to sit on required equipment throughout the shift.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
• Frequently bend, reach, twist, stoop, walk, and climb stairways and ladders.
• Have sufficient sight and hearing to avoid hazards.
• Be able to perform the role while wearing appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, a dust mask, protective coveralls, and other equipment required by a hot, cold, dusty, or loud industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform packaging, processing, or warehousing duties, including reclaiming damaged pallets, loading and unloading trucks, assisting with railcar loading, and placing dunnage.
• Assist with changing screens, cleaning elevators, and cleaning out pipes.
• Perform pallet reclaiming, stacking, baling, and sewing.
• Operate equipment such as a bobcat, front-end loader, sweeper, forklift, and road sweeper to move debris, waste receptacles, pallets, and other materials around plant grounds.
• Clean using manual equipment such as shovels, brooms, mops, fire hoses, and floor jacks.
• Perform pre-operational equipment checks and monitor equipment performance and gauges during operation.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Keep all areas clean and free of clutter.
