About The Position

The Utility Operator at Skana Aluminum is a versatile role responsible for supporting various production departments. This position requires an individual who enjoys variety, staying busy, and ensuring smooth operations. The operator will assist with material handling using forklifts and cranes, support machine operators, maintain cleanliness and safety, and contribute to overall production efficiency. This role is integral to the production process.

Requirements

Ability to multitask, work independently, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong observational skills for defect detection.
Ability to read, write, measure, and follow detailed instructions.
Previous manufacturing experience required.
Ability to read work orders, follow instructions, and communicate clearly.
Familiarity with tape measures, gauges, and computers for production logging and analysis.
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Nice To Haves

Math skills and mechanical curiosity are a plus.

Responsibilities

Support different departments by moving materials, setting up machines, and assisting operators.
Safely transport materials, products, and scrap using forklifts and cranes.
Maintain clean and organized work areas through sweeping, shoveling, and general tidiness.
Assist in running equipment and supporting operators to ensure continuous production.
Monitor for defects and identify any issues with products or processes.
Maintain organization and efficiency in the workspace according to 5S principles.
Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing finished goods for shipment.
Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with team members.
Adhere to all safety protocols and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
