About The Position

The Utility Operator provides support for the manufacture of automotive adhesives and sealants at PPG Adrian, enabling PPG’s continued success in the automotive market. The incumbent is responsible for completing tasks that enable production and the facility as a whole to run safely and efficiently. This is a starting position with the goal to develop into a production operator role in the future with PPG Adrian, MI.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the employment selection process

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting materials for production via fork-truck
  • Labeling and organizing inventory of raw materials and finished goods
  • Pre-assembling materials for production
  • Cleaning containers for use in production
  • Filling containers of finished goods in production
  • Weighing of raw material components according to a specific formula on a batch ticket.
  • Retrieving raw materials from the storage area, hand weighing and then placing on a pallet after being clearly marked with the appropriate PPG Champ code.
  • Moving pallets to a staging area for processing.
  • Filling completed batches into various container sizes depending on customer requirements using both manual and automated dumping processes.
  • Ensuring that batches are filled to the correct weight and all labeling & packaging is properly applied.
  • Cleaning finished good containers that are returned from Adrian’s customers and managing inventory of cleaned containers effectively.
  • Practicing exceptional housekeeping practices by organizing inventory throughout the plant, sweeping, mopping, and performing other general housekeeping activities.
  • Participating in the PPG Quality Process.
  • Working in a safe and effective manner to ensure personal safety and product quality.
  • Performing a variety of other general tasks related to the production of Adrian materials.
  • Attending team meetings as directed by the Team Facilitator or Management and/or other duties as assigned.
