Guards industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. This is an on-call position with no set schedule, requiring availability for all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). The officer must be able to travel between locations around Orlando and Tampa, and be trained and qualified to work multiple posts to cover for call-offs or vacations. Duties include patrolling buildings, grounds, lobbies, corridors, and public rooms; conferring with management; interviewing guests and employees; investigating disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalisms, and accidents; checking for fires and unsafe conditions; ensuring doors, windows, and gates are secure; operating thermostatic controls; registering at watch stations; recording data on property damage and equipment malfunctions; reporting irregularities; warning violators of rule infractions; apprehending or expelling persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts; notifying staff of the presence of persons with questionable reputations; regulating traffic; driving radio-equipped cars to check alarms; sounding alarms or calling emergency services; assisting management and enforcement officers in emergency situations; apprehending unauthorized persons; contacting supervisors by radio or telephone; and writing investigation and automobile usage reports.
