About The Position

We are seeking a Utility Modeling Engineer to support the planning, analysis, and design of complex water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong hydraulic modeling experience who enjoys solving system-wide challenges, developing master utility plans, and supporting large-scale infrastructure projects through data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in hydraulic and hydraulic-grade-line modeling using Bentley WaterGEMS and WaterCAD and have experience supporting utility master plans, phased developments, lift station design, force main systems, pump station evaluations, and utility infrastructure expansion projects. This individual will work closely with project managers, utility engineers, and municipal clients to develop reliable system models that guide planning, design, permitting, and long-term capital improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility engineering and hydraulic modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency with: Bentley WaterGEMS, Bentley WaterCAD
  • Experience developing: Water distribution models, Wastewater collection system models, Reclaimed water models, Force main analyses
  • Experience supporting utility master planning studies and phased development projects.
  • Knowledge of lift station design, pump selection, and wastewater conveyance systems.
  • Familiarity with GIS integration and utility data management.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and calibrate hydraulic models for: Water distribution systems, Wastewater collection systems, Reclaimed water systems, Force main networks
  • Utilize Bentley WaterCAD and WaterGEMS to evaluate system performance under existing and future conditions.
  • Analyze pressures, velocities, fire flow availability, storage requirements, and system reliability.
  • Perform scenario analyses to evaluate growth, infrastructure improvements, operational changes, and emergency conditions.
  • Develop recommendations for system optimization and capital improvement planning.
  • Create and manage master utility models for large-scale, multi-phase development projects.
  • Evaluate infrastructure requirements associated with phased growth and future buildout conditions.
  • Identify capacity constraints and recommend utility improvements to support future development.
  • Prepare technical memorandums and utility planning reports supporting entitlement and infrastructure planning efforts.
  • Coordinate with land development teams to integrate utility planning into overall site development strategies.
  • Model wastewater collection systems and force main networks.
  • Evaluate lift station performance and hydraulic grade lines.
  • Support lift station sizing and design efforts.
  • Perform pump selection and pump system evaluations.
  • Analyze wet well storage requirements, pump curves, operating conditions, and system efficiencies.
  • Develop alternatives for system expansion, redundancy, and operational reliability.
  • Provide hydraulic modeling support for utility design projects.
  • Collaborate with utility engineers during preliminary and final design.
  • Support preparation of engineering reports, calculations, technical specifications, and permit applications.
  • Assist with construction-phase troubleshooting and operational analyses when required.
  • Maintain utility system databases and model inventories.
  • Coordinate GIS, survey, and utility record information for model development.
  • Verify model accuracy through field data, flow monitoring, pressure testing, and utility owner records.
  • Develop model documentation standards and quality control procedures.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Collaborate with municipal utility departments, developers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support proposals, interviews, and technical pursuits involving utility planning and modeling services.
