About The Position

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a Utility Maintenance Mechanic to help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus utility systems serving students, faculty, staff, and visitors. As part of the Utilities Maintenance team, this position maintains critical infrastructure supporting academic buildings, research facilities, residence halls, athletic venues, administrative offices, and public spaces. The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance on district energy systems, heating steam and chilled water networks, utility distribution systems, pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment. It also includes equipment reliability work, outage preparation, tunnel and utility pit maintenance, plant support activities, and follow-up work associated with repairs and construction projects. The position contributes to campus operations and dependable utility services through technical expertise, attention to safety, and teamwork.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
24 months of experience in electrical instrumentation repair and mechanical repair of large equipment such as boilers, diesel engines, generators, or chillers.
Valid driver's license to drive University vehicles, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Hiring is contingent upon a background check and driver's license check.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on district energy systems, heating steam and chilled water networks, utility distribution systems, pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment.
Perform equipment reliability work and outage preparation.
Maintain tunnels and utility pits.
Carry out plant support activities.
Perform follow-up work associated with repairs and construction projects.
Help maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus utility systems.
