About The Position

HP Hood is seeking a Utility Maintenance Mechanic for night shifts, working 12-hour shifts. This role is responsible for maintaining various systems including steam and condensate, refrigeration/HVAC, water supply, house air systems, fire systems, and building structure. The position requires ensuring thorough routine inspections, addressing discrepancies, monitoring boiler chemistry, documenting work, communicating system status, maintaining good housekeeping, and showing urgency in addressing equipment breakdowns. The mechanic will utilize troubleshooting skills for quick resolution and long-term prevention of issues, ensure proper equipment operation procedures, assist in SOP development, adhere to PSM policies, and be a qualified member of the Hazmat response team. The role also involves attending daily shift meetings, performing duties following Good Manufacturing Practices with minimal supervision, and handling tasks related to food safety and quality.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • At least 3+ years experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Excellent Troubleshoot Experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Communication skills are a must.
  • Multi-tasked Individual.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain an operational level of understanding and technical ability on: Steam and Condensate, Refrigeration / HVAC, Water supply (soft, domestic, etc.), House air systems, Fire systems, Building structural.
  • Ensure thorough routine inspections and checks are completed on all system components.
  • Ensure any discrepancies are appropriately addressed and documented.
  • Monitor and maintain boiler chemistry.
  • Consistent documentation of work completed via MP2 work order system.
  • Effectively communicate systems status to co-workers and supervisors via supplied tools (logs, MP2, email).
  • Maintain good housekeeping and orderliness of assigned areas.
  • Show appropriate urgency in addressing equipment breakdowns.
  • Efficiently use troubleshooting skills to resolve issues quickly.
  • Pursue long term resolution to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure proper procedures are used in the operation of equipment.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of SOP’s.
  • Ensure PSM policies are adhered to.
  • Must be a fully qualified member of the Hazmat response team.
  • Attend Daily Shift Meetings.
  • Perform assigned duties following "GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES".
  • Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Various tasks involving the responsibility of the food safety and quality of company products.
