About The Position

This position is located in the Maintenance Division of the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) Transit and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. This employee must possess a general knowledge of skills associated with carpentry, painting, roofing, electrical and plumbing prior to assuming this position. Essential Job Functions: Responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction, installation and maintenance procedures relating to mechanical and electrical components and systems of COTPA facilities. Maintains and repairs all bus shelters and bus routes. Diagnoses, maintains and repairs mechanical, structural, electrical and plumbing malfunctions. Employee will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings as required. This includes but is not limited to painting, maintenance of facility machinery and equipment, carpentry, pm inspections of COTPA buildings and equipment, installation and maintenance of bus stop signs and repair and maintenance of structural framing such as walls, roofs and stairs. Overall work performance is reviewed at the discretion of the Division Head.

Requirements

  • Communicates verbally in English, so as to be understood both in person and by two- way radio.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of job and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the shops.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical problems of AC and DC equipment, electrical motors and controls on voltages under 480 VAC and programmable logic and solid-state controllers
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building air conditioning and heat (HVAC) including but not limited to cleaning, servicing and maintaining fans, motors, filters, water towers, coils and pumps.
  • Ability to perform duties independently and with others with little direct supervision.
  • Skill in making accurate measurements.
  • Skill in reading and following sketches, drawings or blueprints.
  • Ability to estimate material and equipment needs.
  • Skill in maintaining schedule demands and project quality.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to comply with strict attendance policies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with COTPA personnel.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License, Class D.
  • Knowledge of and skill in following safe working procedures and practices.
