About The Position

Northern Lights Locating and Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate underground utilities and help protect utility infrastructure. The company has worked in utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging since 2001, with projects nationwide. This full-time employee role offers independence in an assigned work area, operational support, and modern locating technology. Pay is $20.00–$30.00 per hour, with door-to-door pay. The position is based in Owensboro, Kentucky, and includes participation in an on-call rotation. Candidates should be prepared to work in all weather conditions, travel, and work overtime or flexible schedules.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Accuracy and attention to safety.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Mark utilities accurately with paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
