About The Position

This position is full-time, year-round outside work. Utility locating technicians will be tasked to respond to utility marking requests (tickets) sent to One Call Concepts Locating Services, Inc. via the state One Call Center (NY811), on the behalf of our utility customers in Suffolk County, NY. Locators will access the marking requests via a company provided laptop computer and smartphone. Records/plans for facilities owned by the utility owner will be accessed on the laptop. Locators will interpret the records and use utility locating equipment to accurately find and mark the horizontal location of the underground facilities. Proper documentation of the performed marking will be input to the online ticket management system. Additionally, the locator will be required to adhere to company policies and customer regulations.

Requirements

  • NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Paid training will be provided.
  • An acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to plan a route using a map.
  • Familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate a computer file system.
  • Reading comprehension skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet daily deadlines.
  • Ability to walk on varying terrain, to include roadside and construction areas.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally to access manholes and valve pits.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to utility marking requests (tickets) sent to One Call Concepts Locating Services, Inc. via the state One Call Center (NY811).
  • Access marking requests via a company provided laptop computer and smartphone.
  • Interpret records and use utility locating equipment to accurately find and mark the horizontal location of underground facilities.
  • Input proper documentation of performed marking into the online ticket management system.
  • Adhere to company policies and customer regulations.
  • Interact daily with homeowners, excavators, and utility personnel.
  • Participate in a 24-hour, On-Call rotation.
