Utility Locator/Damage Prevention Specialist

About The Position
The Damage Prevention Specialist helps prevent utility damage by serving as a liaison between homeowners, contractors, and the gas utility. The role promotes safe excavation practices, supports accurate utility markings, and helps ensure compliance with state 811 dig laws. The position involves visiting active job sites in a company-provided vehicle, documenting field activities and findings, and maintaining assigned tools and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience locating utilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards.
- Ability to work outdoors in the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons.
- Proficient verbal and written communication.
Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce safe digging practices in accordance with state 811 dig laws.
- Visit active job sites using a company-provided vehicle to communicate with contractors and homeowners about safe excavation procedures.
- Coordinate and facilitate corrections or updates to gas utility markings as needed.
- Perform quality checks to ensure utility markings are accurate and complete.
- Accurately document daily activities, observations, and field findings.
- Assist with identifying marked utilities, structures, and map information in the field.
- Perform operator-level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
