About The Position

This position is responsible for floating to all departments within the Hatchery on an as needed basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Fill in departments as needed based on production needs. Duties may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice on a daily basis. Work days will be scheduled on Thursdays when the weekly schedule is posted. Specific areas include Egg Room, Embrex, Chick Processing, Sanitation, and Pull Crew. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months.
  • Attendance point level </= 6.
  • 6 months in current area unless promoting (less than 6 months in current area is allowable for promotion).
  • Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull 1000-1500 lbs. (on wheels).
  • Regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces, and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.
  • Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals.
  • Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • Familiarity with chemicals commonly used: Formaldehyde, disinfectant, lubricants and Virocid.
  • Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock Out Tag out, and Personal Protective Equipment.
