Utility Inspection Technician (Indoor Inspections)
About The Position
RECONN, a leader in the utility industry focused on quality and safety, is seeking problem solvers who prioritize public safety and thrive in a fast-paced environment to join their team as Utility Inspection Technicians. This role involves entering commercial and residential facilities to inspect gas meters and pipes for leaks and corrosion, including visual inspections and ensuring all necessary paperwork and data are completed. Technicians are required to report to their work area on time at the start of each shift. While on-site, they will identify abnormal operating conditions and accurately complete all inspection forms, which may be electronic or paper. These are full-time, daytime positions, and overtime may be required. Instructor-led training will be provided. The position may also require working weekends. RECONN is currently hiring in the Somerville, Cambridge, and Hyde Park, MA areas, with a starting pay of $22/hr.
Requirements
- Travel may be required at times (up to 60-mile radius of your primary assigned work location)
- Proficient at using current technology, smartphone, & tablet
- Must be able to communicate in an effective manner in a one-on-one setting and while addressing a group
- Ability to work overtime and weekends (as needed)
- Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required
- Ability to use simple hand tools
- Ability to read utility map

Responsibilities
- Entering commercial and residential facilities to check gas meters and pipes for leaks and corrosion
- Performing visual inspection
- Ensuring all required paperwork/data are completed
- Reporting to their respective work area on time at the start of each shift
- Identifying any abnormal operating conditions while on-site
- Accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (electronic or paper)
