About The Position

The Utility/Ingredient Rail Operator is responsible for operating a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars, performing all functions of the Control Room Panel - Batching operator, and coordinating activities such as switching cars, coupling railcars, and managing clearances. The role involves monitoring track conditions, accurately recording data, operating scales for ingredient documentation, and using equipment to unload feed ingredients. Additionally, the operator will perform quality analysis on incoming ingredients, handle minor maintenance with hand tools, and maintain good housekeeping. This position requires effective communication with all levels of operations, customers, and vendors, while strictly adhering to Tyson Health and Safety protocols and Biosecurity Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be able to understand labels, read recipes, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
  • Must have 6 months work history in the last 12 months documented within your application’s work history and/or resume. Can be a combination of employers as long as it is within the past 12 months or your application will not be reviewed.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and/or up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb ladder/stairs with the ability to sustain physical activity throughout the day.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity Guidelines including an agreement to avoid any avian species.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a locomotive/trackmobile to move rail cars by following established procedures and/or specifications.
  • Work and perform all the functions of the Control Room Panel - Batching operator.
  • Coordinate activities such as switching cars from one track to another, coupling railcars together, and/or clearances.
  • Handle switches and hand brakes in accordance with company programs.
  • Walk the length of the track to monitor track conditions and report any irregularities to management.
  • Accurately record data/Dispatch.
  • Operate scales and document incoming ingredients through the ticketing system.
  • Operate equipment to unload feed ingredients and route to appropriate storage silo.
  • Obtain and run quality analysis on required incoming ingredients.
  • Lift and use hand tools to assist in unloading of ingredients.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties using hand tools.
  • Maintain good housekeeping including service areas and grounds keeping.
  • Communicate to all levels of Operations including Customers and Vendors both orally and in writing where required.
  • Follow and Operate within all Tyson Health and Safety protocols.
  • Complete all other tasks assigned by management.
