About The Position

At Utz Quality Foods, we have expanded our Kings Mountain, NC manufacturing facility and looking for a dedicated Utility II to join our team. The Utility II assists as back up in all the production processes and positions by supporting the production areas including Operating equipment, sanitation, and stocking/consumption of inventory.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to learn operator jobs over a 3-month period of time from initial onboarding.
  • Previous food experience required including operating of fryers or packaging equipment.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools.
  • Must follow all personal and food safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be team oriented.
  • Strong commitment to company values.
  • Responsible to follow all safety rules and work safely at all times.
  • Responsible to report unsafe equipment and practices to management.
  • Must adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate production and data entry equipment.
  • Must be able to stand most of the time.
  • Must be willing and able to work in / around consistently hot equipment and environments.
  • Knowledge of safe operating practices involved in the use of lock-out/tag-out programs and food safety.
  • Experience with general mechanic tools (Allen wrenches, screw drivers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage for other Utilities, Operators, and/or Co-workers as needed according to established requirements and procedures for the assigned tasks.
  • Operate touch screens and various pieces of production and data entry equipment required for operation of equipment in assigned area when filling in for operators.
  • Move and place necessary materials to support production needs using forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Ensure the accurate consumption of materials from production to Inventory.
  • Must be able to work one weekend a month for End of Month Inventory.
  • Organize new inventory according to best practices; double-stacking is required.
  • Ensure adherence to established safety standards and proactively communicating and addressing issues for the plant supporting a zero-accident culture.
  • Ensure work area, machinery and other equipment are kept clean and well maintained.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and where applicable, address safety and equipment related issues.
  • Providing suggestions on continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Works with management and fellow associates to ensure Food Safety programs are followed.
  • Reports food, office or operational safety problems to a supervisor or manager for initiating action.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that will impact and support the overall outcome of company and department objectives.
