About The Position

Ecolab is hiring a Utility Fumigation Specialist for its Specialty Pest Elimination team. The role provides fumigation services to major seaports and inland locations around Houston, Texas. The employee will receive paid training to perform fumigation work and assistance obtaining required licenses and certifications. This is a field-based position that may involve travel within a 25-mile radius of Houston, with travel and overnight stays that may increase during peak season. The stated work week is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; working every other weekend may be required if needed. The role may also require overnight shifts and on-call availability outside normal working hours and on weekends. Training pay is $23.00 per hour. The advertised annual compensation range is $37,700–$56,600.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Current and valid driver's license.
Two years of work or military experience.
Ability to obtain required fumigation certifications and licenses under applicable laws; a state fumigation certificate or license is required or must be obtainable.
Ability to understand and interpret English labels and Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) with a Hazmat endorsement.
Ability to work overnight shifts as needed and willingness to be on call outside work hours and on weekends as necessary.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including using a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus; lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 70 pounds chest high; and working in confined spaces, damp or dusty locations, hot or freezing conditions, and at heights up to 150 feet.
Ability to perform duties involving lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, climbing, using hands and fingers, balancing, walking, standing, sitting, pulling, talking, and hearing.
Must pass a background check and a drug test including THC if offered the position.

Nice To Haves

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience reading product labels, calculating and mixing accurate chemical concentrations, and following label requirements.
Ability to use fumigation management equipment, including electronic devices for recording and reporting data.
Computer skills with database software, including industry-specific software, company network-based and cloud-based applications, smartphones, Microsoft Office, and other electronic devices used to access information and enter data.

Responsibilities

Assist with fumigation services, including sealing and tarping facilities, introducing fumigant, conducting fume readings, and aerating or degassing facilities.
Use handheld computerized equipment to manage service and document structural, sanitation, and pest issues.
Use gas monitoring equipment to conduct readings during fumigations.
Read, understand, and follow labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous chemicals used during services.
Communicate effectively with customers as needed.
Inspect, maintain, and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow OSHA-mandated and customer-specific safety protocols.
Use equipment involved in fumigation management services, including electronic devices for recording and reporting data.
