About The Position

The Utility Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of building utility systems. This will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. This role supports critical systems including electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, and other mechanical equipment. Shift: Monday - Friday | Day Shift Payrate: $38.90 hourly rate | Weekly pay The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating and maintaining commercial, industrial, or critical facility utility systems.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and systems effectively.
  • Proficiency using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certification or equivalent trade experience preferred.
  • Journeyman-level experience in a skilled trade.
  • Experience in data centers, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or commercial campuses.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and energy management systems.
  • Experience working around mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair utility systems and associated equipment.
  • Monitor building automation systems (BAS), utility controls, and equipment performance to identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and utility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Respond to emergency service requests and utility-related incidents.
  • Conduct routine inspections of utility rooms, equipment, and infrastructure to identify deficiencies or safety concerns.
  • Maintain generators, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, water systems, and distribution equipment as applicable.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, and operational logs.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new utility systems and equipment.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and facility personnel regarding repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
