About The Position

This Utility Driver is responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty truck, including belly dumps, dump trucks, roll-offs, and semi-tractor trucks with attached trailers. The role involves maintaining a clean and safe vehicle, performing inspections, and adhering to safety rules. The driver will also participate in training, communicate with supervisors about efficiencies and safety concerns, and report any incidents. Responsibilities include attaching and removing various types of trailers, monitoring vehicle gauges, and covering loads with a tarp when necessary.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Valid Class C Driver’s License
Minimum of six (6) months experience in a heavy labor role
Acceptable driving record. (H-6 printout will be requested)
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English / Spanish
Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry
Forklift certified

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe and clean working vehicle
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle
Understands and practices operating as prescribed in Athens Services Safety Rules
Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls before attempting service
Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and safety meetings
Works closely with Supervisors to improve efficiencies & identify problem or unsafe acts
Notifies Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage
Performs other duties as assigned
Attaches and removes pup trailers, belly dump & side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed
Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle
Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required
