About The Position

Performs general duties as directed by the room operator. This role involves handling trash and recyclables, operating equipment like pallet jacks and bailers, organizing materials, and maintaining a clean work environment. The position also requires participation in team activities, adherence to operating systems, and performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

• Must be able to singularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand freely and move about the facility.
• Must be able to perform active range of motion movements as needed.
• Must be able to work in a cool environment (down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least 8 hours.
• Occasional climbing stairs; simple grasping; talking; use of hearing.
• Constant standing; bending at the neck and waist; power grasping; pushing/pulling; reaching below shoulder level; use of vision.
• Experience working inside line work around loud equipment/machinery.
• Experience walking around drains, footbaths, hoses.
• Experience with exposure to cold; wet environment.
• Must be comfortable with personal computers.
• Must be able to speak and comprehend the English language.

Nice To Haves

• Grinding experience preferred.
• Preference for poultry or food manufacturing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Delivers trash and recyclables to the appropriate room.
• Utilizes hand-operated pallet jack to move trash gondolas filled with cardboard, pallet, and plastic to the recycle room.
• Lifts tote into bailer and turns machine on.
• Moves bailed product into trailer.
• Organizes recyclables and moves non-recycled product into appropriate bins.
• Tears down totes and turns button on tote dumper to dump product into silo.
• Pulls pallet from empty tote and breaks tote down.
• Loads into trash gondola.
• Inspects product on metal detector and removes offending items.
• Performs general duties as directed by the room operator.
• Builds totes as directed.
• Visually inspects labels.
• Moves or delivers rejected product from the line.
• Assembles and disassembles items as directed.
• Refers issues to room operator.
• Performs basic cleanup and maintains the cleanliness of the room.
• Ensures work area stays clean.
• Assists in weekly sanitation in accordance with set procedures.
• Assists operators to prepare cleaning chemicals, ensuring correct concentration and proper loading.
• Demonstrates correct lock-out tag procedures.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• Accepts responsibility to identify areas lacking cohesiveness and works with the team leader and team to resolve issues.
• Reinforces actions needed to achieve synergy within the organization.
• Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems and understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
