Utility Clerk Full-Time
About The Position
The Utility Clerk performs general maintenance and cleaning duties while maintaining high standards of safety and sanitation for members and team members. The role gathers and returns carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance, keeps carts available and in working order, and helps ensure the club and its exterior are clean, safe, and organized. The Utility Clerk provides prompt, courteous member service, follows club policies and procedures, and may perform duties in other departments as needed. This position involves frequent movement across hard surfaces and regular work both indoors and outdoors. Duties can include bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, stooping, using ladders or step stools, lifting objects up to 30 pounds, and moving heavier or awkward objects with assistance. The role uses a pallet jack to pull and push pallets and involves frequent exposure to authorized cleaning agents, outdoor weather, and occasional exposure to paint, chemicals, and extreme temperatures in freezers and coolers.
Requirements
- Must successfully complete required training and certification processes.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Must be over 18 to operate equipment and enter age-restricted areas; parking lot cart functions may be performed by someone under 18.
- Ability to frequently lift objects up to 30 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may need to be moved with assistance.
- Ability to use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.
Nice To Haves
- Prior maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
- Prior retail or wholesale experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide members with prompt and courteous service and assistance while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.
- Clean the club’s sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
- Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance; keep carts stocked, clean, and in working order, and remove unsuitable carts from use.
- Remove trash and debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior of the club.
- Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks, including wet and dry mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
- Maintain outdoor grounds, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
- Prioritize maintenance and cleaning work efficiently across the club.
- Operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler safely and according to established safety standards.
- Restock maintenance and cleaning supplies and keep supply areas on the receiving dock and maintenance closets clean, neat, and organized.
- Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management when major repairs may be needed.
- Follow club policies and procedures, support compliance, and perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Complete required training and certification processes.
- Support club standards, member service, safety, inclusion, teamwork, and a clean and organized club environment.
