The Utility Clerk is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment. Essential duties include removing and bailing cardboard, conducting price checks, returning items to shelves, and managing cart control in the parking lot.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
  • Ability to maintain organized storage areas and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, manage multiple demands, and work effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Aptitude for making informed decisions quickly, often in high-pressure environments.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
  • Climbing ladders to perform warehouse tasks at elevated heights.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
  • Operate equipment to move or store products and displays.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
  • Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
  • Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Return products to shelves, ensuring perishables and frozen items are promptly placed in their proper locations to maintain freshness.
  • Assist the front end team by confirming and checking product prices when needed.
  • Remove empty cardboard boxes from shelves, bale cardboard, and clean the receiving area.
  • Collect shopping carts and clean parking lots throughout the shift.
  • Clean spills on the sales floor and surrounding areas.
  • Help customers locate items and carry out purchases as needed.
  • Sweep store hourly by following store maps of each section and properly documenting sweeps by scanning QR codes throughout the store.
  • Maintain store cleanliness inside and out, including bathrooms and trash cans.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department to help ensure a favorable department image to customers.
  • Report malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment to store management immediately.
  • Greet all customers and provide prompt and courteous service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Pay Range: $16.90 - $21.50
