About The Position

STV is seeking a Utility CAD Technician for its Carolinas Utility Coordination Practice, to be based out of their Raleigh or Charlotte, NC office. This role requires proficiency in Bentley software and familiarity with NCDOT plan reading. As STV expands in the utility sector, they are looking for a self-motivated and energetic individual to join a fast-paced environment. The position involves performing modeling, estimating, and drafting, primarily using Bentley software for transportation projects such as roadway and bridge projects, under the supervision of utility coordinators and project managers. Responsibilities also include preparing drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of transportation projects and utility relocations, and assisting other non-utility groups with design, modeling, estimating, and drafting. The role also entails plotting complete roadway/utility plan sets, formatting CAD drawings to client standards, preparing drafting for U-sheets and UBO plans, and adhering to company quality standards. The technician will address red line markups, utility sketches, exhibits, and QC comments to advance projects to construction, and collaborate with other production team members. A foundational understanding of engineering and architectural documentation and construction, particularly in roadway and bridge infrastructure, is necessary. The ability to work in a group setting, monitor projects for standards compliance and modeling errors, and review CAD and models for design coordination issues is also required. Versatility with several CAD/BIM software is a must.

Requirements

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously within assigned timelines.
  • Experience with Microstation, and ProjectWise is required.
  • 5+ years' experience with NCDOT projects required.
  • Strong teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Geopak and ORD experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is a plus.
  • Experience with Bentley InRoads is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform modeling, estimating, and drafting using primarily Bentley software on transportation projects, including but not limited to roadway projects and bridge projects, under the guidance of utility coordinators and project managers.
  • Prepare drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of transportation projects and utility relocations.
  • Assist other non-utility groups as needed with design, modeling, estimating, and drafting.
  • Plotting of complete roadway/utility plan sets and Formatting cad drawings to client standards using several software.
  • Cutting plan sheets and prepare drafting for U-sheets and UBO plans.
  • Adhere to company quality standards with regard to work product.
  • Address red line markups, utility sketches, exhibits, and QC comments from utility coordinators, project managers, and clients to advance roadway and bridge projects to construction.
  • Collaborate with other production team members.
