About The Position

Rich’s, a family-owned food company, is seeking a Utility Associate for Shift 3 at its Brunswick facility. This role is responsible for preparing frozen food products on assigned production lines by operating batter machines, breaders, and conveyors to meet quality specifications and production needs. The Utility Associate contributes to the company's profitability by performing tasks safely, efficiently, and with a focus on quality and cost-consciousness, while working cooperatively with their team leader and co-workers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 - 3 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum lifting requirement is 20 pounds, from approximately 6 inches off the ground to up to shoulder height.
  • Maximum lifting requirement is up to 65 pounds over the same distance and occasionally above shoulder height, depending on job assignment.
  • Punctual and reliable in their work attendance.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Applies all safe work practices associated with these tasks.
  • Works in a safe manner always.
  • Applies all GMPs requirements, both personal hygiene and housekeeping, associated with these tasks.
  • Always keeps work area clean, in line with plant procedures on housekeeping, wastewater, and solids management.
  • Applies all product safety and quality requirements associated with the process at assigned positions.
  • Severe allergic reaction to cheese, flour, baking soda, baking powder, phosphates, cardboard (or its dust), latex (used in gloves), or chlorine would preclude a person from performing the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up all equipment to ensure proper operation, requiring knowledge of various parts, their functions, and applications.
  • Assisting maintenance mechanics with preventive maintenance of machinery during non-production periods and reporting operational problems or maintenance needs.
  • Ensuring correct product specifications are met.
  • Preparing batter machines with the correct batter for the product.
  • Verifying correct ingredients are brought to the line and reporting discrepancies.
  • Unstacking, opening, and dumping bags of breader or batter mix (weighing up to 50 pounds) into machinery, involving lifting to waist or shoulder level.
  • Periodically checking batter machines and breaders for correct levels and proper product coating, reporting any issues to the Production Team Leader or Group Leader, and assisting in corrections.
  • Disposing of packaging materials into appropriate trash containers.
  • Pushing trash carts or carrying tubs of waste materials to the proper disposal area.
  • Washing down equipment with a low-pressure water hose according to plant wastewater and sanitation policies.
  • Preparing all required paperwork for quality and production records.
  • Regularly monitoring critical control points, taking and recording measures, and reacting to ensure the process stays within designed parameters.
  • Assisting in the set-up and operation of other processing equipment as needed.
  • Maintaining a clean work area in line with plant procedures on housekeeping, wastewater, and solids management.
  • Identifying product or processing problems and correcting them if within training and knowledge, or communicating to the appropriate person if not.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with Team Leader, managers, and co-workers.
  • Resolving problems and conflicts respectfully.
  • Understanding the impact of their job on team productivity and plant profitability, maintaining personal productivity, and contributing suggestions for work process improvements.
