Albemarle County has an immediate opening for a Utility Assistant Registrar! This position plays a vital role in supporting the fair, accurate, and efficient administration of elections. The Utility Assistant Registrar is responsible for supporting voter registration and records management, elections operations and logistics, and the delivery and coordination of training for election officials. We are seeking a knowledgeable, well-organized individual to ensure the many moving parts of the election process are carried out successfully. The Utility Assistant Registrar performs flexible, hands-on technical election support work for the Registrar and the Department of Voter Registration and Elections in accordance with federal and state election laws, including Title 24.2 of the Code of Virginia, and guidance issued by the Virginia Department of Elections. This position is designed to function as a department-wide utility role, providing operational assistance across voter registration, Early Voting, Election Day preparation, election equipment readiness, training support, and records management. Duties are assigned at the discretion of the Registrar based on operational needs and election cycle demands. Work is performed under supervision with latitude for independent judgment in execution. The role is non-supervisory and does not exercise independent statutory authority.
