About The Position

The Utilities Intern (Inventory Control) will support the Utilities Department's Field Services operations by assisting with day-to-day inventory management activities. This includes monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting regular stock counts, reconciling physical inventory against system records, and updating databases and spreadsheets to reflect stock movements. The intern will assist in tracking incoming and outgoing goods, help with proper storage, labeling, and organization of inventory items, and support efforts to identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock. The role also involves coordinating with warehouse, purchasing, and logistics teams, preparing inventory reports for supervisors and management, and supporting audits and inspections related to inventory control. Beyond the technical work, this internship offers hands-on exposure to municipal utility operations and an opportunity to contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in any of the following degree programs: Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A valid Nevada driver’s license
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
