About The Position

The City of Henderson is seeking to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Utilities Assistant - Meter Services (Limited Term) in the Department of Utility Services. This role involves performing general duties related to meter reading, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), customer response, and conservation awareness for water and wastewater. The position is a limited-term role, approved through June 2028, to assist with a new Citywide initiative. Selected candidates will be full-time employees but will be removed from the staff complement at the end of the approved period, with rights outlined in the Teamsters contract regarding reduction in force. For current employees, eligibility lists will be created based on employment status, with separate lists for full-time non-probationary employees and other employee types/external candidates.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Six (6) months of full-time work experience in a public water utility, including customer service, and/or Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
  • Employee will be expected to complete assigned training courses through the City of Henderson's learning management system
  • All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, or as required herein, must be obtained at incumbent’s expense
  • Employee must maintain certificates and licenses for the position in good standing as a condition of continued employment

Responsibilities

  • Performs general duties in meter reading, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR)/Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), customer response, and conservation awareness relating to water and wastewater in the Department of Utility Services.
