About The Position

Kinsley Construction is seeking personnel for our growing Utilities asphalt and concrete patching crews in and around York and Adams County, PA. Positions include asphalt laborer, equipment operator, foreman, concrete finisher, and concrete laborers. Successful candidates should possess a willingness to learn, have a good work ethic, and a positive attitude. The Asphalt Foreman position requires knowledge of underground utility installation, excavation regulations, and pipeline safety. Please note that this position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with Kinsley Construction policies and procedures.

Requirements

Knowledge of underground utility installation, excavation regulations, and pipeline safety for Foreman position is required.
Ability to understand project quantities and production for Foreman position.
Ability to work in a crew-based environment.
Punctuality and dependability are required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
Possess a valid PA driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
Physically able to perform tasks involving climbing, lifting, balancing, and handling materials.
Capable of understanding and following oral and written instructions.
Able to perform manual labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Previous asphalt paving/placement experience is preferred.
Ability to read and follow construction site drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and specifications is preferred.
Prior experience in operating a variety of heavy equipment is preferred.
Maintain all necessary tools for Equipment Operators.
Skilled in correctly forming and pouring ADA ramps; concrete highway dowel work experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Shovel and lute asphalt.
Take and understand instructions from crew leaders.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of paving.
Operate equipment in compliance with Kinsley’s safety policies and procedures.
Maintain company equipment by greasing and checking fluids regularly.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of paving.
Adjusting manhole and inlets
Prepping paving streets
Assisting with pipelaying as required
Working with utility adjustments
Interpret blueprints, project plans and specifications
Order and receive materials and maintain material inventory
Responsible for daily crew timecard entry and maintaining daily logs/reporting
Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.
Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire to strengthen the concrete.
Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed and float.
Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affects the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process to ensure a durable, smooth and uniform finish.
Produce rough concrete surface using broom.
Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers and straightedge.
Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete.
Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
Cooperate with Superintendents and Project Managers and understand individual job site needs.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
