About The Position

This position involves the operation of A-Scan and C-Scan ultrasonic equipment for inspection purposes. The role requires calibration and standardization of equipment, evaluation and interpretation of ultrasonic indications, and reporting of findings based on acceptance criteria. Responsibilities also include reviewing work orders, customer specifications, developing techniques and scan plans, and preparing various quality documentation such as reports and certificates of conformance. The job also entails compiling daily production reports and potentially using cranes and forklifts to move materials. Employees are expected to adhere to safe work practices, company policies, and maintain high ethical and professional standards within the aerospace industry.

Requirements

  • Current or previous certification as a UT Level 2.
  • Minimum of 1200 hours of documented work experience in the UT method (flaw detection and evaluation skills).
  • Primary experience in Ultrasonic Immersion testing using A and C-Scan systems in accordance with AMS-STD-2154 and other Aerospace Prime Specifications.
  • Secondary experience in Angle Beam testing, both contact and immersion.
  • Experience with automated ultrasonic C-scan Systems and semi-automated manipulators and bridges.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Must be able to interpret and understand blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Windows.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • At least 80 hours of Formal Training in Ultrasonic Testing meeting the guidelines of ASNT CP-105.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of A-Scan and C-Scan equipment, including calibration and standardization.
  • Evaluation and interpretation of ultrasonic indications.
  • Reporting of indications and dispositioning results based on acceptance criteria.
  • Reviewing Work Orders and Customer specifications and requirements.
  • Developing techniques and Scan Plans for approval.
  • Preparing reports, certificates of conformance, and related quality documentation.
  • Compiling daily production reports for all hours worked and cross-referencing those hours to appropriate production jobs.
  • Uses cranes, forklifts and related tools to move heavy material into or out of work area.
  • Know and follow safe work practices, rules, and regulations.
  • Learn through training and comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain exemplary ethical and professional standards.
  • Request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives in the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
