About The Position

The Queen’s Cue, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is seeking warm, engaging, and confident Ushers - Host/Runners to join our Food & Beverage team in Stratford. At The Queen’s Cue and the Boar’s Head Pub, the Usher helps set the scene. Inspired by the traditional role of an Usher, who welcomed guests, guided them into important spaces, and helped occasions unfold smoothly, our Ushers are the first point of connection between the guest and the dining experience. You will help create the energy of the room from the moment a guest arrives. Whether you are welcoming someone at the door, guiding them to their table, sharing a recommendation, supporting service on the floor, or helping manage the flow of a busy evening, you will play an important role in making every visit feel considered, relaxed, and genuinely memorable. This is a role built around awareness and personality. You understand when to engage, when to step in, and when to let the moment speak for itself. You help guests feel comfortable, help the team stay connected, and help the room move with the right pace. You are naturally welcoming and enjoy being around people. You are confident starting conversations, quick to pick up on the mood of a table, and comfortable adjusting your style to suit the guest in front of you. Your day may include welcoming and seating guests, managing reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists, answering telephone and guest enquiries, taking orders, sharing menu and beverage recommendations, and supporting table service throughout the guest experience. You may also assist with food running, water service, clearing and resetting tables, and general service support during busy periods. You have a good sense of what is happening around you. You notice when a table needs attention, when the kitchen or service team needs support, and when a guest may need a little extra care. You stay composed when the room gets busy, communicate clearly, and are comfortable moving between the host stand and the floor as service demands. You also take pride in the details behind the scenes, including maintaining a clean and organized entrance and host area, keeping menus and service spaces guest-ready, completing opening and closing duties, and following all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety standards. Above all, you understand that hospitality is not about following a script. It is about creating the right feeling in the room and helping every guest feel that they are exactly where they are meant to be.
