NOGA USGA P.J. Boatwright Tournament Internship
About The Position
The Northern Ohio Golf Association is seeking a USGA P.J. Boatwright Tournament Intern for the golf season. This three-month internship runs May through August, with flexible start and end dates based on the intern’s school schedule. Based in North Olmsted, Ohio, the internship offers exposure to golf administration and the delivery of golf events, programs, and services. The intern will travel throughout the region to assist with competitions and qualifying events. The USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship Program provides short-term, entry-level experience for people interested in golf administration while supporting state and regional golf associations. The internship offers experience with tournament preparation, administration, and post-tournament business. The role may involve long hours and hard work, and calls for patience, initiative, and decision-making.
Requirements
- College degree completed or in process.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Interest in golf.
- Willingness to travel within Ohio.
- Organization and exceptional time-management skills.
- Strong work ethic and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and work outside in extreme weather and temperatures.
- Must arrange for housing in the area and provide their own automobile transportation.

Responsibilities
- Assist with competition registration, starting, scoring, course setup, pace-of-play monitoring, and communication with tournament staff.
- Assist with course marking, determining hole locations, and taking hole-by-hole notes.
- Maintain the tournament entry database.
- Learn Golf Genius tournament management software to create events, pairings, and tee sheets, and enter scores.
- Track and update player of the year points.
- Assist with volunteer management.
- Respond to emails and phone calls about general tournament or qualifier-related inquiries.
