About The Position

Tempo is seeking a Lead User Researcher to join their Design team on a 12-month contract. This role involves leading research across the product portfolio, collaborating with Design and Product Management, and maturing the research practice within a growing team. A significant aspect of the role is conducting research within software programs, such as early access, beta, and design partner programs, to gather direct customer feedback before and during product launches. The Lead User Researcher will report to the Director of Design and play a key role in shaping product decisions.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in user experience research.
A strong portfolio of work.
Hands-on experience using AI tools to support and accelerate research.
A track record of working closely with Designers and Product Managers throughout the product development process.
Experience running research within software programs such as early access, beta, or design partner programs.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end research, including designing, running, and synthesizing studies to inform product and design strategy.
Own research within software programs, planning and executing studies across early access, beta, and design partner programs, and translating participant feedback into actionable insights.
Partner closely with Design and Product teams throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery to post-launch.
Utilize AI tools to enhance analysis and synthesis as a force multiplier, while maintaining rigorous research methods.
Communicate research findings clearly to stakeholders across the business and influence decisions with evidence.
Contribute to defining the team's research strategy, including prioritization and approach.
Maintain research operations, documentation, and past findings to ensure organization and accessibility for the team.
