Used Equipment Inspector

The Used Equipment Inspector has responsibility for inspecting machines for potential trade, consignment or purchase and performs light mechanical work on used machines and shows machines to prospective customers in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.”
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years as a heavy equipment technician on Caterpillar equipment
- 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
- 1+ years customer service experience
- Familiarity with all construction machinery
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Responsibilities
- Maintains an orderly and tidy used equipment display area, if required
- Photographs machines for marketing efforts
- Coordinates inspection process with sales people and customers
- Assists walk-in customers
- Starts and shows machine to prospective buyers
- Inspects potential trades, consignments, fleet retirements, and purchases
- Inspects trades as they are received to make sure they are complete and in the same condition as initially inspected
- Measures and inspects undercarriages on rental and used machines
- Coordinates repair and sales preparation of used equipment
- Inspects used rental equipment for customer damage and contact customer when necessary to negotiate repair
- Coordinates service on flat tires, glass replacement, replacing batteries
- Makes minor repairs to designated machines
- Other duties as assigned by manager
