About The Position

River Valley Marine is seeking an additional Marine Buyer & Consignment Specialist to join their Rochester team to help expand their inventory of quality pre-owned boats. This role is for someone who combines strong marine knowledge, technical boat evaluation skills, and sales ability. The ideal candidate understands boats beyond the showroom floor and can confidently assess condition, determine market value, negotiate purchases, and ultimately help sell those boats to their next owner. This opportunity allows you to build a career around boats, work with them daily, become a trusted resource, and help customers buy, sell, trade, and consign boats. You will join a Top 10 Marine Dealer in North America and play a direct role in inventory growth and dealership profitability.

Requirements

  • Genuine passion for boating and the marine lifestyle
  • Strong understanding of boat condition, valuation, and resale potential
  • Experience in marine, powersports, automotive, RV, or dealership environments preferred
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build trust with boat owners and buyers
  • Comfortable making pricing and purchasing decisions
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Self-motivated with a performance-driven mindset
  • Experience with Facebook Marketplace and online selling platforms preferred
  • CRM experience is a plus (LightspeedEVO, DP360, Excel, etc.)
  • Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Source and acquire quality used boats through private sellers, trade-ins, referrals, and dealership opportunities
  • Evaluate vessel condition, features, age, maintenance history, and market demand
  • Determine accurate purchase and resale values
  • Negotiate purchase, trade, and consignment agreements with customers
  • Build and manage a profitable inventory of quality pre-owned boats
  • Create and manage online listings through Facebook Marketplace and other digital platforms
  • Work with customers throughout the buying and selling process
  • Assist with showroom traffic, dealership events, and boat sales opportunities
  • Manage titles, contracts, and transaction paperwork accurately
  • Maintain professional inventory presentation and merchandising standards
  • Support overall used boat sales performance and dealership profitability
