About The Position

The Daily Mail’s US team is seeking a driven Social Media Editor to join its New York newsroom. The editor will shape the Daily Mail’s voice across social media platforms while maintaining high editorial standards. The role focuses on building audiences and driving subscriptions, page views, traffic, and engagement. It involves posting to Facebook, X, Threads, Reddit, WhatsApp, and Pinterest; this role does not post on TikTok. The editor will work in the office on a rotating schedule that includes Monday–Friday, Sunday–Thursday, and Tuesday–Saturday shifts, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays during major events.

Requirements

At least 3 years of social media experience in a fast-paced news environment.
Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, X, Reddit, and social media analytics tools.
A proven track record of driving traffic and engagement on social media.
Ability to craft compelling headlines and scroll-stopping assets.
Flexibility to work across major events on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Drive subscriptions and page views across social platforms.

Pitch trending and viral content to editors.
Monitor traffic and engagement in real time and develop creative ways to improve performance.
Collaborate with the Social Video team to ensure platforms are properly maintained and have a coherent voice.
