About The Position

The US MA Business Operations Lead, Obesity is a key member of the US Medical Business Operations & Enablement Team. They combine organizational expertise with an understanding of US MA’s strategic priorities to ensure compliant and efficient execution of plans for the US Obesity Medical Affairs organization. The main objective is to provide robust strategic, operational, and budgetary support to the US Obesity Medical Affairs organization. This role involves leading efforts to establish/optimize/evolve the Medical team, ensuring alignment, and monitoring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance. The lead will independently drive the implementation of new ways of working and manage change communications. They will serve as a key point of coordination and communication between US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, the Operational Excellence Team, and Medical Platforms. The role also includes providing strategic guidance on high-priority projects and senior management requests, representing the US Obesity Medical Affairs organization in cross-functional forums (including with commercial teams), and leading budget management and Operating Plan development. Additionally, the lead will spearhead strategic initiatives focused on equity, digital, and critical Obesity scientific initiatives. The US MA Business Operations Lead, Obesity reports to the US Medical Business Operations & Enablement Team Lead and directly supports the US Obesity Medical Lead and their Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree (e.g., masters) highly preferred.
  • 8+ years with Bachelor’s degree; 7+ years with Master’s degree.

  • Prior experience in Medical Affairs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support to the US Obesity Medical Lead and partner with the US Obesity Medical Affairs Leadership Team (LT) to ensure efficient functioning and drive strategic direction.
  • Support effective governance processes/meetings, including US Obesity Medical Affairs LT and other medical governance committees, responsible for end-to-end fit-for-purpose governance planning/execution.
  • Provide thought partnership to the US Obesity Medical Lead on key issues and topics, helping to address and coordinate resolution of requests from various stakeholders.
  • Work and align with key internal stakeholders to ensure consistency.
  • Support US Obesity Medical coordination efforts with Other Category Operational Excellence (including Cross-Category Operational Medical Forum).
  • Lead efforts in partnership with the US Obesity Medical Leads for the development of a 3-5 year US Obesity Medical Affairs Vision, Strategy & Goals.
  • Provide thought partnership on strategic & operational issues/topics.
  • Lead and/or provide strategic direction for project teams on critical initiatives, defining project scope, setting strategic goals/objectives & developing project execution plans with clearly defined milestones/metrics.
  • Drive change & transformations, working collaboratively with US Obesity Medical Affairs colleagues, cross-functional Category & other stakeholders as well as senior leaders to deliver actionable solutions to resolve complex challenges.
  • Effectively facilitate/influence complex & strategic conversations.
  • Guide the US Obesity Medical Affairs organization to provide robust operational support for ensuring compliant & efficient functioning.
  • Lead the annual Operating Plan for the US Obesity Category, working closely with Medical Affairs colleagues, Global MA, Platforms, Finance, Commercial, PHI, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead development of Operating Plan communication for US Obesity Medical Affairs LT.
  • Lead and oversee all budgetary Obesity US operations, ensuring timely contracting and meeting all financial spend targets related to medical activities and projects.
  • Lead resource forecasting and tracking to ensure spending is aligned with budget targets.
  • Lead efforts for development of US Obesity Medical Affairs specific transparent budget/resource planning and allocation algorithms/models, as well as manage resource planning, allocation & staffing.
  • Lead planning/coordination of offshore resources, as needed.
  • Partner with the Obesity Medical Affairs LT to drive implementation of new ways of working.
  • Represent in cross-functional forums including the US Obesity commercial team.
  • Lead communication between Global Medical Affairs, Platforms and US Obesity Medical Affairs Organization.
  • Respond to inquiries from US Obesity Medical Affairs Organization on Global Medical Affairs, platform services, new ways of working and change management efforts.
  • Foster innovation by embedding digital adaptation and building strategy.
