About The Position

The Urology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive care to patients with urologic conditions in both the outpatient clinic and hospital settings. Working collaboratively with supervising urologists, the APP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with acute and chronic urologic disorders while assisting with procedures and coordinating ongoing care.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current state license as NP or PA.
  • National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to perform office-based procedures.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with physicians.
  • Strong documentation and EMR skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in urology, surgery, or primary care preferred.
  • New graduates with strong clinical training may be considered.
  • ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including history, physical examination, and assessment of urologic conditions.
  • Diagnose and manage common urologic conditions such as: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), Kidney stones, Urinary tract infections, Hematuria, Urinary incontinence, Male hypogonadism, Erectile dysfunction, Prostate and bladder cancer surveillance.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and urologic studies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice.
  • Perform office-based urologic procedures such as: Catheter placement and management, Foley and suprapubic catheter exchange, Bladder irrigation, Uroflow and post-void residual interpretation, Vasectomy consultation and follow-up.
  • Assist with cystoscopy and other minor procedures (depending on training and credentialing).
  • Perform inpatient consultations.
  • Manage post-operative urology patients.
  • Assist in perioperative care including preoperative assessments and post-operative follow-up.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and lifestyle changes.
  • Provide counseling on prevention and management of urologic diseases.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
  • Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
