Urgent Care Veterinary Technician
About The Position
Bedford Pet Urgent Care is looking for a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join their urgent care team. This role is critical in patient care, client communication, and life-saving support within a fast-paced environment. The position involves working with dogs, cats, and pocket pets, providing high-quality medicine and compassionate care. The hospital is state-of-the-art and offers a wide range of services including annual wellness care, anesthesia, dentistry, internal medicine, laser therapy, surgery, urgent care, and acupuncture. They are well-equipped with advanced diagnostic tools like ultrasound, digital radiography, dental x-ray, and an in-house laboratory. Bedford Pet Urgent Care specifically handles after-hours and weekend urgent and sick patients that do not require overnight hospitalization or surgery.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of veterinary technician experience
- Flexibility to work rotating weekends
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a collaborative attitude
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Solid understanding of preventative care, hospital workflow, and surgical procedures
- Competence in sample collection, lab test processing, radiograph positioning, and anesthetic monitoring
- The ability to accept and act on constructive feedback to support hospital efficiency
- A self-starter mentality with a commitment to continued learning and professional development
Responsibilities
- Safely restrain animals using low-stress handling techniques
- Triage and assess incoming patients to prioritize care
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, skin, etc.)
- Perform diagnostic imaging and accurately capture radiographs
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical prep, procedures, and recovery
- Provide high-quality nursing care to stable and critical patients
- Accurately document patient histories and interpret medical records
- Communicate treatment plans clearly and compassionately to clients
