The Urgent Care RN utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. This role involves performing assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. The RN administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws and practice acts. Ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation is crucial, as is developing, initiating, and executing a patient plan of care according to individual needs, physician orders, and hospital policy. The position requires utilizing available resources for patient and family education, providing information at an appropriate level of understanding. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, including shared governance, is expected. The RN will use clinical expertise and guidance to support the patient's longitudinal plan of care across units and departments, acting to resolve systems breakdowns and engaging in problem-solving. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience is essential, as is managing complex situations and delegating appropriately. Escalation to the appropriate chain of command is necessary. The role involves positively influencing professional and organizational environments and shared governance, engaging in personal development, and supporting continuous learning and growth opportunities, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. Support for peer review and feedback is also part of the role. Clinic and Ambulatory RNs will maintain timely patient flow, respond to telephone calls, and perform telephone triage.
