At Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care, the focus is on patient needs, providing an effortless patient experience, a welcoming culture of care, and seamless integration with health systems and communities. This role seeks experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care, emergency room, or high acute family medicine experience, capable of treating both adult and pediatric patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
  • Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required.
  • National Certification
  • Active state medical licensure
  • Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
  • Per Diem employees must be available to work 3 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred.
  • Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
  • Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections.
  • Recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.
  • Examine and treat patients.
  • Take patients’ medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe medications.
  • Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting.
  • Record progress notes for follow-up patients.
  • Educate and counsel patients.
  • Order and/or carry out therapy with patients.
  • Give vaccinations, and refer patients to additional care.
