About The Position

We are recruiting for a mission-driven Urgent Care APP PRN/Intermittent to join our team! Denver Health is committed to being there for life's journey, and purpose is lived daily. The Pediatric Urgent Care APP operates independently under general supervision to provide urgent care-related healthcare. This role involves examining and diagnosing patients, developing treatment plans, and providing treatment for various conditions including illnesses, injuries, emergencies, prenatal care, follow-up, and screening. The APP performs testing, refers to physicians as needed, writes prescriptions, and performs procedures within their scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The position requires organization and efficient time management in a dynamic clinic setting where processes may be established or modified.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited medical school
  • NP-Nurse Practitioner - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required or PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required
  • CSRC-Controlled Substance Regulation Certification - DEA - Drug Enforcement Agency Required
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
  • Knowledge of medical principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of community resources for appropriate procedures.
  • Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams, and formulating assessments and treatment plans.
  • Skill in ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
  • Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
  • Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients, and motivating patients to accept treatments.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
  • Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and evaluates the medical condition of patients and, under physician supervision and in collaboration with other disciplines, makes decisions regarding treatment changes or applies appropriate protocols. Refers patients to specialized services as needed.
  • Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
  • Orders and administers appropriate medications within statutory limitations or refers patients to specialized caregivers. Initiates, performs, or directs other healthcare professionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests.
  • Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly, and in a timely manner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files, and records.
  • Participates in the clinical education of healthcare students as deemed appropriate by supervising medical staff.
  • May be assigned lead work or involvement in clinical coordination, health station management, or special projects, including protocol development, management planning, and scheduling to support the practice environment.
  • Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings. Utilizes effective communication principles to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and garner support for programs or policies.
  • Follows established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
