About The Position

UREC Intramural Sports Officials are an integral part of the Sport Programs Staff. This position will provide officiating and score keeping support for a variety of intramural and club team sports during the academic year, including Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Dodgeball. No prior experience is required; free training will be provided for each sport.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled and continuing as a part-time or full-time Undergraduate or Graduate Student at The University of Alabama (not required in the summer months).
• Must be available to work 10-15 hours per week.
• Must be able to work flexible evening hours; games typically take place Sunday-Thursday from 5pm to 11pm.
• Must be able lift and move up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able walk, run, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in various weather conditions.
• Must attend all required training and successfully complete rules test for various team sports.
• Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters.
• Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.

Nice To Haves

• Previous sports officiating experience preferred but not required.
