The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is seeking enthusiastic individuals for its Urban Green Philadelphia Youth Conservation Crew. This entry-level program, based at John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, aims to connect young people aged 15-18 with nature through hands-on conservation work and environmental education. The crew will work for six weeks during the summer, from July through August, with transportation provided to project sites in Southwest Philadelphia and at the refuge. The program includes 50-75% conservation fieldwork, such as trail and garden improvement, invasive species management, and native planting, alongside 25-50% environmental education, leadership development, and workforce readiness activities. A significant component is a 5-day, 4-night overnight tent-camping trip in the Poconos for the Delaware River Watershed Stewardship Internship Program, involving kayaking, camping, and water quality testing.
