About The Position

A crew of 6 high school aged members, 2 senior crew members (18+) and 2 young adult Field Leaders will complete conservation projects around the East Bay Area. All projects conducted outdoors. Crews work every other Saturday starting from October 17th, 2026 through May 15th, 2027. An overnight 2 night camping trip is scheduled for the springtime. The crews main goal for the school year season is to gain conservation work skills through hands on experiences and complete projects designed to increase climate resiliency and access to green spaces in their communities.

Requirements

Be a high school student or freshly graduated who is 18 years old.
Must be available for all program dates, barring emergencies.
Ability to perform manual, physical labor in the outdoors for up to 8 hours per day, rain or shine barring inclement weather.
Ability to lift heavy materials, dig with shovels and use other hand tools, plant trees/native plants, weed, and some light construction.
A team-oriented mindset and desire to work and learn outdoors.
Must have the ability to legally work in the USA.

Responsibilities

Completing conservation work projects with local worksite partners.
Obtaining First Aid/CPR certification.
Camping and practical outdoor skills.
Tool use skills and maintenance.
Urban agriculture basics.
Engaging in community outreach & climate change educational activities.
Assisting local volunteer events.
Increasing local ecological knowledge and awareness.
Finding meaningful connection with nature to become lifelong stewards and advocates of our shared natural resources.
Taking on leadership support tasks, assisting the two Field Leaders and learning valuable leadership skills.
Completing a cumulative end of season multi media project to present on graduation.
Completing post season surveys.
Providing camping feedback.
