About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Graduate Urban Designer to join their ADVANCE program. This program is designed to introduce and build essential business and personal skills, aiding the transition from student to professional. Graduates will be assigned duties providing a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field at a Graduate entry level. The ADVANCE program lasts approximately 24 months, and successful completion is an indicator of strong performance alongside other performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design or Urban Planning
  • Master’s degree in Urban Design or related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Track record of delivering urban design projects
  • Experience in collaboration with clients, design and engineering disciplines on high profile international urban development projects.
  • Expertise in Adobe Design Collection, Sketch Up and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Rhino3D, Grasshopper, GIS and other urban design and city planning softwares.
  • Strong portfolio of built work which demonstrates excellent technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and identify projects and staff collaboration matters, providing impact assessments to senior staff for mitigations and management.
  • Contribute to research-based tasks, ensuring the quality of output aligns with local office applied standards.
  • Collect, comprehend, and graphically represent Zoning Regulations, local regulatory frameworks, and urban design guidelines in operating regions.
  • Properly represent sites and projects drawings in correct scales.
  • Under the supervision of senior staff, prepare qualitative and quantitative sets of diagrams and drawings covering benchmark and precedent studies.
  • Collect applicable design typologies relevant to project briefs for discussions with Senior Urban Designers on relevance.
  • Contribute to maintaining the office's physical and digital library of submitted projects, innovative urban design books, and ideas.
  • Analyze project briefs and project sites, collaborating with peers to develop comprehensive site reviews and recommendations.
  • Acquire or be on path to acquire basic urban design definitions of attributes used across urban design projects.
  • Translate and represent innovative design solutions through digital tools and personal skills.
  • Facilitate internal workshops, summarizing outcome reports.
  • Represent ideas and concepts graphically, developing graphical representations of sequential narratives.
  • Advocate for quality procedures and continuously apply self-check procedures before issuing information and drawings.
  • Report on safety issues observed in the office and outside the office during duty, including near misses.
