About The Position

LMN is seeking an experienced Urban Designer to join our team. LMN is an internationally recognized design practice made up of 100 diverse individuals who collectively design places that elevate the social experience. Our Urban Systems Lab leverages the firm’s multidisciplinary studio environment to engage in projects at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and city planning. We take a research-based, systems-oriented approach to collaborative design and problem-solving. LMN’s work drives positive change through design excellence, equity, sustainability, and resilience, with a particular focus on infrastructure design, district planning, urban redevelopment, and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, city planning, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a range of planning and urban design contexts
  • Proficiency in existing and emerging design and visualization tools and technologies, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and Arc GIS
  • Ability to self-direct and work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Play a pivotal role in elevating the work of the Urban Systems Lab inside and outside of the office.
  • Be in or willing to relocate to Seattle, working in person 4 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Generating design and planning alternatives for infrastructure and development projects.
  • Leading analysis for structure, buildings, sites, networks, and neighborhoods.
  • Producing clear diagrams to explain ideas, concepts, and alternatives.
  • Assisting with outreach and engagement.
  • 3D modeling and visualization in Rhino, Grasshopper, and Enscape, and AI-enabled design exploration tools.
  • Writing and producing highly visual and conceptually clear reports and presentations.
  • Preparing design documentation, guidelines, concept packages, and implementation materials.
  • Providing code and policy review for architectural projects.
  • Client and consultant coordination.
