About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Urban Designer in New York, NY. This role will lead urban design and public realm planning for transportation and infrastructure projects, including streetscapes, transit corridors, waterfront resiliency improvements, and multimodal public spaces. The Urban Designer will produce technical urban design drawings, manage project staffing and resources, contribute to business development, and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Responsibilities also include preparing presentation materials, design reports, and planning documentation for clients, agencies, and regulatory review processes. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field of study and 4 years of experience as an Urban Designer, Architectural Designer, or in a related occupation OR Master's degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or a related field of study and 2 years of experience as an Urban Designer, Architectural Designer, or in a related occupation
  • Experience in urban design and master planning
  • Experience in public realm and streetscape design
  • Experience in site planning
  • Experience in technical drawing and design documentation
  • Experience in 3D modeling and visualization
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Rhino
  • Proficiency in SketchUp
  • Proficiency in GIS
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Responsibilities

  • Lead urban design and public realm planning for transportation and infrastructure projects including streetscapes, transit corridors, waterfront resiliency improvements, and multimodal public spaces
  • Produce technical urban design drawings including site plans, sections, grading concepts, streetscape layouts, and spatial design diagrams for planning and construction coordination
  • Manage project staffing, internal coordination, and resource planning
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposal development and client presentations
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate civil, structural, transportation, and environmental systems into viable design solutions
  • Prepare presentation materials, design reports, and planning documentation for clients, agencies, and regulatory review processes
