About The Position
Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital located in Meridian, Mississippi. The facility offers treatment programs for adults and adolescents, with a specialized program track for seniors. The campus also includes The Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents. For over 40 years, Alliance has been dedicated to serving individuals with acute mental and behavioral health disorders and addiction issues across Mississippi and Alabama. Programs are tailored to patient diagnosis and age, covering adolescents to seniors. Services include detoxification, dual diagnosis, and the New Leaf Recovery program for individuals 18 and up, offering a full spectrum of addiction services. The hospital is seeking a Utilization Review Coordinator to join the Alliance Health Center Team. This role is responsible for maximizing financial benefits through initial and continued stay reviews, prior authorization for discharge services, effective communication between the business office and treatment team, supporting discharge plans, and actively pursuing appeals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Psychology or other related field and two years of experience in a health or human services agency required or experience equivalent.
- Knowledge of health care service delivery systems and third party reimbursement
- Understanding of admission and discharge function
- Familiar with medical terminology, diagnostic terms and treatment modalities
- Knowledge of medical record keeping
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, evaluative, and time management skills
- Policy interpretation skills
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that financial benefits are maximized in the treatment and discharge planning for assigned cases through initial and continued stay reviews
- Prior authorization work for discharge services
- Effective liaison work and communication between business office and treatment team
- Support of the discharge plan
- Active pursuit of appeals
