The Upward Bound/Upward Bound Math Science (UB/UBMS) Summer Program is a six-week college preparatory program that gives Upward Bound students a taste of the college experience. Held from mid-June to the beginning of August, participants take college-style classes at a local university, attend field trips to local colleges and universities, and participate in related cultural events. Participants receive instruction in reading, composition, foreign language, math and laboratory science. In addition, they are offered guidance in educational and career opportunities, as well as exposure to enrichment activities designed to promote leadership, cultural awareness, and self-confidence. The UB/UBMS High School Teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver quality instruction to support the academic growth of students during the Upward Bound six-week Summer Program. Teachers will need experience and expertise in one of the following areas: reading/literature, composition, math (Algebra II, geometry, or data analysis and statistics), laboratory science, or foreign language. Teachers can teach 1-3 classes per day and will receive a paid planning and grading period.
